Trying to calculate the exact XLM needed for a payment
Permalink

Hey folks, need some help with a Stellar transaction. I have to pay an invoice that's listed as $75 USD, but I want to pay in XLM from my wallet. How do I figure out the exact amount of XLM to send so it equals $75 at the moment of the transaction? Manually checking an exchange rate and doing the math feels error-prone, especially if the price moves while I'm setting it up.

You're right to avoid manual math for this; even small rate changes can throw it off. The easiest way is to use a dedicated cryptocurrency calculator that uses real-time rates. For Stellar, you want one that lets you input the fiat amount first. I use paybis.com/stellar-calculator/ for this. You just select USD, type in '75,' and it instantly calculates the precise XLM equivalent. It pulls a live market rate, so you get an accurate figure to send. Just remember to add a tiny bit extra to account for the network transaction fee so the recipient gets the full amount.
